Khalil Al-Hayya appointed as new Hamas leader, succeeding Yahya Sinwar.
Doha: (RightNow) Palestinian resistance organization Hamas appoints Khalil Al-Hayya as the new leader. The organization states that Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya has been elected as the head of the political office.
According to Arab media, Khalil Al-Hayya will assume responsibilities as the successor to Yahya Sinwar. Khalil Al-Hayya hails from Gaza and was born in 1960.
Hamas reports that Khalil Al-Hayya has been part of the organization since its inception in 1987. He holds a prominent position following the martyrdom of key Hamas leaders.
Khalil Al-Hayya’s appointment marks a significant change in Hamas’s organizational structure. This could impact the organization’s future strategy.
It is noteworthy that former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was martyred in October 2024 during a confrontation with Israeli forces.
