Lahore: (RightNow). The Punjab government initiates actions against smog as the Air Quality Index records 158 in Lahore. Wind speeds range from 2 to 7 miles per hour, blowing from south to north and east.

Under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a coordinated system targets pollution sources. Drone squads, night squads, and Hawk Eye field squads are activated.

In the last 24 hours, 269 industrial units were inspected, resulting in 11 units being sealed, one case registered, and fines totaling 1.2 million rupees imposed.

In actions against brick kilns, 431 kilns were inspected, with 5 demolished, 9 sealed, and 9 cases registered, alongside fines of 1.4 million rupees.

It is noteworthy that over 215,000 farmers have been contacted to prevent crop residue burning. The government has cultivated crops on 638,000 acres out of 6.332 million acres of rice area.
