Beijing: (RightNow) China has dismissed Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli from the Communist Party and military over charges of treason and corruption. Both were close associates of President Xi Jinping.

Zhang Youxia was the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, while Liu Zhenli was the Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department. Investigations against them began in January, leading to their dismissal.

The Chinese government stated that these officers violated party principles and breached strict disciplinary rules. Following their removal, only two active members remain in the Central Military Commission.

This issue is significant as it raises questions about the power and loyalty within China’s military leadership. The action reflects President Xi’s strong grip on power.

It is noteworthy that China continues to take stringent actions against political and economic corruption. The cases of Zhang and Liu have been forwarded to military prosecutors for further investigation.
