Taif: (RightNow) Yemeni Houthi rebels attacked King Fahd Airbase in Taif, Saudi Arabia. The attack targeted an Italian military aircraft ‘F-2000’, but no casualties occurred.

Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has ordered continuous monitoring of the situation at Taif Airbase. According to him, all personnel are safe, and no damage was done to other infrastructure.

Following the attack, Italy has indicated plans to launch a naval mission in the Red Sea to protect its commercial ships. This mission aims to ensure the safe passage of vessels.

The attack is significant as the Italian military is part of the global mission against ISIS, ‘Operation Inherent Resolve’. This incident has heightened global shipping concerns.

It is noteworthy that Houthi rebels are backed by Iran and have conducted multiple attacks on King Fahd Airbase recently, increasing regional tensions.
