Karachi: (RightNow) Former cricketer Wasim Akram clarified why his wife Shaniera Akram did not accompany him for Hajj. Wasim stated in a podcast that Shaniera should first perform Umrah.

According to Wasim Akram, Shaniera suggested performing Umrah instead of Hajj to gain better understanding. He added that it should be an individual experience for her.

Shaniera Akram mentioned that Wasim went for Hajj alone to focus on his worship. She believed her presence might distract him.

Wasim Akram described the experience as wonderful and life-changing. He said this Hajj was the best birthday gift for him.

It is noteworthy that Wasim Akram married Australian citizen Shaniera Akram in 2013. They have a daughter named Aiyla.
