Islamabad: (RightNow) The federal government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to a hospital. The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad submitted the petition through the Advocate General.

The Supreme Court had ordered the transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital. The government challenged this decision, stating it exceeds the court’s jurisdiction.

Federal Minister Azam Nazir Tarar stated that the government has decided to approach the Supreme Court. Consultations are ongoing for implementing the court’s order.

The petition claims that the procedure for prisoners’ treatment outside jail is clear. Imran Khan has previously received health facilities under the jail manual.

It is noteworthy that Imran Khan was sentenced to imprisonment on August 5, 2023. His appeal is pending in the Islamabad High Court, while the Supreme Court granted temporary medical treatment permission.
