Netherlands: (RightNow) Researchers at the University Medical Center Groningen reveal that low-dose digoxin can prevent hospital visits for heart failure patients. This medication also reduces the risk of death.

Dr. Dirk Jan van Veldhuizen, who led the study, states that these findings could change heart failure treatment. This affordable drug may become available to more patients.

Over 5 lakh people in the Netherlands suffer from heart failure. Experts hope digoxin use can improve patients’ conditions.

It is important to note that heart failure treatment typically involves a combination of four key medications, known as the ‘Fantastic Four.’

The study results have been published in Nature Medicine and other scientific journals and were presented at the ESC Heart Failure Congress in Barcelona.
