Geneva: (RightNow) Pakistan assumes the presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament today. Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi will preside over key meetings.

Diplomatic sources reveal that Andrabi will manage his current responsibilities alongside the presidency. He states this is a significant diplomatic opportunity.

During its presidency, Pakistan will host discussions on preventing arms in space and eliminating nuclear weapons. Talks will also cover challenges of artificial intelligence in the military sector.

In November, Pakistan will lead the preparation and approval of a crucial resolution for the UN General Assembly. Additionally, it will assist in preparing the conference’s annual report and future agenda.

It is noteworthy that the presidency of this 65-nation global forum is a significant diplomatic advancement for Pakistan amid the current geopolitical situation.
