Quetta: (RightNow) Allegations of billion rupee corruption have surfaced in the Balochistan Water Department’s 2024 auctions of vehicles and heavy machinery. The Anti-Corruption Establishment of Balochistan has initiated an investigation.

In Quetta, over 70 vehicles and machinery, including Land Cruisers, double cabins, trucks, tankers, dozers, tractors, and excavators, were sold in auctions held in February and October 2024.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment of Balochistan has begun probing irregularities in these auctions. It is reported that government vehicles and machinery were sold at significantly low prices.

Questions have been raised about the administrative procedures in these matters. The department’s Chief Engineer opposed the auctions, yet the vehicles were sold.

It is noteworthy that allegations of favoritism towards specific contractors have also emerged. The investigation is ongoing under the leadership of DG Anti-Corruption Balochistan, Naseebullah Kakar.
