Lisbon: (RightNow) Pakistan secured a silver medal at the ITF Masters World Team Championship held in Portugal. The final match in the over-45 category was against Spain.
The singles and doubles matches between Pakistan and Spain ended in a tie. In the decisive singles match, Spain’s Francisco Martinez Baena defeated Pakistan’s Aqeel Khan 6-4, 6-2.
To reach the final, Pakistan defeated teams from the USA, Canada, Portugal, and Sweden. The championship featured over 30 countries and more than 300 players.
By winning a medal in the Masters Cup, Pakistan became the only Asian country to achieve this honor. This success marks a significant milestone for Pakistani tennis.
