Polling in four Balochistan wards postponed due to security concerns, affecting Khuzdar, Kalat, and Hub.
Quetta: (RightNow) The Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed polling in four local government wards in Balochistan scheduled for August 9. This decision is due to deteriorating security conditions.
The Election Commission stated that polling has been postponed in various wards of Khuzdar, Kalat, and Hub districts. The affected wards will remain postponed until further notice.
According to the commission, polling is deferred in Ward 12 of Khuzdar Municipal Corporation and Ward 13 of Kalat Municipal Committee. Polling will also not occur in Ward 3 of Union Council 16 and Ward 5 of Union Council 17.
Candidates and voters have been alerted about the postponement of the electoral process. The Election Commission mentioned that a new date will be announced later, and relevant candidates will be informed.
It is noteworthy that the Election Commission made this decision considering the security situation to ensure the safety of candidates and voters.
