KP Police separates investigation and operations wings to enhance transparency and improve the criminal justice system.
Peshawar: (RightNow) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have decided to completely separate the investigation and operations wings. This decision was made by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, who promises to bring transparency to the police system.
Aftab Alam has stated that the investigation wing will be given administrative and financial autonomy. This wing will operate under a separate command structure from the AIG to the district level. These reforms aim to improve the criminal justice system.
He further mentioned that the government is strengthening the prosecution system. The police investigation will be given complete administrative freedom from the operations wing. After the reforms, there will be a special focus on convicting offenders.
The Provincial Law Minister said that the Police Act Amendment Bill will soon be finalized. Separate investigation chains will be established at the district, regional, and provincial levels.
It is noteworthy that these reforms are expected to prevent crime and provide better justice to the public. The improvement in the investigation system aims to reduce the acquittal rate of offenders.
