Islamabad: (RightNow) The Senate Committee suggests eliminating unnecessary ministries could save 5 trillion rupees annually. The meeting reviewed the transfer of powers post-18th Constitutional Amendment.

The committee discussed reorganizing the federal government and reducing the number of ministries. Members advised the federal government to operate within constitutional limits.

The committee emphasized the need for full implementation of the Council of Common Interests’ role. Members proposed reducing government expenses and reliance on the IMF.

It is noteworthy that not benefiting provinces from oil and gas resources is a constitutional violation. Provinces have been deprived for 16 years while companies profit.

The committee has requested details of oil and gas revenues. Members stated that without constitutional rights for provinces, the federation cannot be strong, and unnecessary expenses need reduction.
