Sahil Reports Over 3,000 Gender Violence Cases in First Half of 2026

Islamabad: (RightNow) Sahil has released its semi-annual report on gender-based violence from January to June 2026. The report records 3,172 cases in the first six months of 2026, including 18 cases involving transgender individuals.

The report details 644 murders, 514 assaults, 462 abductions, and 363 suicides. Additionally, 280 rape cases and other crimes were reported.

Authorities state that 54% of incidents occurred in the victim’s home and 12% in the perpetrator’s home. Punjab reported 74% of cases, Sindh 17%, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 6%.

This report is based on information collected from national and regional newspapers. Police registered 76% of cases, while 23% lacked registration information.

It is noteworthy that Sahil has been working since 2024 to prevent gender violence and continues efforts to make communities safer.
