Islamabad: (RightNow) Following the closure of the Hormuz Strait and the announcement by Houthis to halt Saudi oil supply, Pakistan has initiated the search for alternative oil sources. This step has become essential for the country’s energy security.

The Government of Pakistan has taken emergency measures to address the energy crisis. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik called an urgent meeting with the CEOs of oil refineries, where they were briefed on the regional security situation.

The minister instructed refineries to immediately identify alternative import sources. Officials attending the meeting have begun contacting international trading companies.

As a result of this situation, Pakistan has started reviewing crude oil supplies from the USA, Singapore, Nigeria, and Central Asian countries. The price of Brent crude in the global market has reached $90.87 per barrel.

It is noteworthy that after the halt in Saudi oil supply, Pakistan’s energy security is at risk. In this context, Pakistan has prioritized the search for alternative sources.
