Israel starts building a long barrier in Gaza, raising division concerns.
Gaza: (RightNow) Israel has begun constructing a long earthen barrier inside Gaza. This barrier spans several kilometers and passes through Palestinian areas demolished during the conflict.
According to an American news agency, Israel has built a 23-kilometer-long barrier in recent months. If the current pace continues, it could form a continuous defensive strip from Rafah in the south to Gaza City.
The Israeli military has confirmed the establishment of a security zone alongside the barrier. This zone is equipped with advanced surveillance and intelligence systems to prevent infiltration by Hamas fighters.
The construction of this barrier raises concerns about Israel’s permanent control over more than half of Gaza. The U.S. Central Command has refrained from commenting on the matter.
It is noteworthy that Israeli attacks in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, following Hamas attacks. Over 75,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, with millions injured.
