Abu Dhabi: (RightNow) A 39-year-old Jordanian engineer, Zaid Sunoqrot, has developed AI-based technology to protect palm trees. He established a deep tech company, Pamir, in Abu Dhabi for this purpose.

Zaid Sunoqrot states that millions of palm trees were being destroyed by the dangerous red palm weevil. This posed severe threats to the region’s culture, food security, and agricultural economy.

He further mentioned that due to the lack of effective solutions, he decided to create one himself. Pamir has developed AI acoustic technology for agriculture and environmental monitoring.

This technology can timely detect damage or disease in trees through sound analysis. According to Zaid, the initial model succeeded in the lab, but natural conditions affected its performance in the field.

It is noteworthy that continuous research was needed to make the technology effective in real environments. The company has made its system more reliable.
