Washington: (RightNow) US crude oil reserves have reached their lowest level in four decades following tensions with Iran. The current reserves have shrunk to a 45-year low.

According to Bank of America charts, the country’s crude oil supply is down to just 43 days. This is the lowest level since July 1983, posing a threat to US energy security.

The US Energy Information Administration reports a continuous decline in commercial and strategic reserves. As of July 10, commercial crude oil reserves were recorded at approximately 409.7 million barrels, 6% below the 5-year average.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell to 316.5 million barrels by July 18, the lowest since April 1983.

It is noteworthy that the total US oil reserves are about 730.8 million barrels, marking one of the lowest levels in the past four decades.
