The US sanctions Turkey’s Golden Global Bank for facilitating financial transactions for Iran’s Quds Force.
Washington: (RightNow) The US has imposed sanctions on a Turkish bank and two affiliated financial institutions to increase economic pressure on Iran. The US Treasury Department states that Golden Global Yatirim Bank facilitated transactions worth millions of dollars for the Quds Force.
The bank and its subsidiaries provided the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran access to the banking network, enabling Tehran to transfer funds abroad. According to US officials, this secret financial system transferred revenue obtained from China to Iran via Turkey.
US officials claim this method helped Iran transfer its income while evading US sanctions. Turkey is a crucial financial route for Iran, which is why Washington closely monitors it.
It is noteworthy that the US is pursuing a maximum economic pressure policy against Iran, targeting Iranian oil revenue and financial networks. This strategy aims to limit Iran’s international financial activities.
