The case against MQM’s founder for anti-government slogans in Karachi has been reopened, leading to the arrest of 5 workers.
Karachi: (RightNow) The case against MQM’s founder for anti-government slogans and forcibly blocking Shahrah-e-Quaideen in Karachi has been reopened. Khalid Maqbool and Farooq Sattar are also named in the case.
In Karachi’s Anti-Terrorism Court, 5 MQM workers were presented. The court approved their physical remand and ordered them to reappear on July 23.
The arrested individuals include Hameed Pasha, Tahseen, Umar Mirza, Waseem, and Afaq Alam. Khalid Maqbool, Farooq Sattar, Rauf Siddiqui, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Waseem Akhtar, and Qamar Mansoor are also nominated in the case.
The case was filed for forcibly blocking Shahrah-e-Quaideen on May 12, 2016, which caused massive traffic jams and disrupted law and order in the city.
It is noteworthy that this case against MQM’s founder has been under consideration before, but recent developments have led to its reopening, sparking new political debates.
