Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directs completion of railway projects, reviews ML-1 and Thar Coal progress.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reviewed progress on the Pakistan Railways Transformation Plan. A briefing was given on railway development projects and infrastructure modernization.
The Prime Minister stated that the railway system will play a key role in the national economy and regional connectivity. He further mentioned that modernizing the railway will be crucial in making Pakistan a trade hub.
He directed the completion of development projects to high standards. Proposals were requested for the upgrade of the Main Line One (ML-1) Rohri-Multan section.
The briefing informed that work is ongoing on ML-1 and Thar Coal railway connectivity. The engineering design for the ML-1 Karachi-Rohri section has been completed.
It is noteworthy that international consultants have been hired for railway reforms. Services of schools under railway management have been outsourced.
