Islamabad: (RightNow) The NDMA has issued an alert for floods and landslides in various regions due to heavy rainfall. The rains are expected to continue from July 18 to 23, posing a risk of sudden floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir.

According to the NDMA, there is a possibility of moderate flooding in the rivers of Gilgit-Baltistan. There is also a risk of flash floods in the upper and central districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The water flow in the rivers of Azad Kashmir is expected to increase.

The NDMA has also issued a landslide alert in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. There is a danger of landslides in Neelum, Haveli, and Poonch. Traffic on the roads of Muzaffarabad and Bagh may be affected by landslides.

An alert for potential flooding has also been issued for Punjab and northeastern Balochistan. There is a risk of flash floods in the rainwater channels of Sialkot, Narowal, and Kohlu. Water accumulation is expected in Peshawar and Nowshera in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It is important to note that the NDMA has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel. Citizens are encouraged to use the NDMA Disaster Alert app. Travelers are urged to exercise caution in mountainous areas.
