Islamabad: (RightNow) The Federal Constitutional Court has provided significant relief to the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) by suspending the interim orders of the Sindh High Court. The court has also halted the inquiry, interviews, and re-evaluation of failed candidates’ exam papers.

The Federal Constitutional Court issued notices to the parties involved in the SPSC’s appeal and postponed further hearings until after the summer judicial recess. Justice Baqar Najafi remarked that the Sindh High Court granted final relief in its interim order, which is not appropriate under constitutional principles.

SPSC’s lawyer, Hafiz Ehsan Khokhar, argued that the court does not have the authority to issue orders beyond the constitutional request. He claimed that the Sindh High Court exceeded its powers.

On the other hand, the lawyer for the failed candidates accused the commission of corruption and nepotism, stating that the commission was previously dissolved but reactivated under new rules.

It is noteworthy that the Sindh High Court had previously taken strict actions against the commission, but it was reactivated under new regulations.
