Washington: (Right Now News) U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced the termination of legal permanent residency for Seyed Eisa Hashemi, son of former Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar, his wife Maryam Tahmasbi, and their son in the United States. These individuals are currently with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and face deportation proceedings.

The announcement was made on social media platform X, with the U.S. State Department adding that these individuals arrived in the U.S. on visas in 2014. In 2016, they were granted legal permanent residency under the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program.

This U.S. action comes amid previous similar measures against relatives of Iranian figures. Recently, the legal status of Qasem Soleimani’s niece and daughter was also revoked.

However, in another Iran-related matter, Iranian media refuted U.S. claims of arrests and family ties, with Zeinab Soleimani stating that the detained women had no connection to her father.

It should be noted that Masoumeh Ebtekar is a former Vice President of Iran, and the U.S. statement links her family to the Iranian regime. This development arises amidst strained U.S.-Iran relations and strict immigration policies.
