Islamabad: (RightNow) The government initiates action against officials hiding dual citizenship. The Establishment Division has sought permission from the Prime Minister to proceed against these officers.

The Establishment Division has sent a summary to the Prime Minister’s Office requesting authority to act against officers concealing dual citizenship. Out of 3,000 officers, most have not submitted affidavits.

Upon the Prime Minister’s approval, show-cause notices will be issued to officers of grades 20 to 22. Proposals to halt promotions, enforce compulsory retirement, or dismiss these officers are under consideration.

This issue is significant as 62.5% of 2,917 government officers have not submitted affidavits. Only 8.68% have disclosed foreign citizenship.

It is noteworthy that under Civil Servants Rules, officers and their dependents must declare foreign citizenship. This includes officers of grades 20, 21, and 22.
