Xi’an: (RightNow) A 200-year-old property dispute in China’s Shanxi province has finally been resolved, creating a buzz on the internet. The Xi’an court recently settled a boundary issue between two neighboring families.
The dispute, involving the Diwu and Zheng families, had been in court for two decades. The conflict escalated when Zheng objected during the renovation of Diwu’s kitchen.
Police and the village committee attempted to mediate but failed. Zheng presented a document from Emperor Qianlong’s era, which was at the root of the dispute.
The document revealed that the conflict was over 200 years old. The court obtained another document, enabling a resolution.
It is noteworthy that the dispute was settled based on a 1781 document, with both families voluntarily moving their walls back.
