Beijing: (RightNow) China has declared India’s renaming of Ladakh regions as illegal. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning dismissed the move in a press briefing, stating it does not affect China’s sovereignty.

According to India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, 28 locations have been renamed and included in official maps. The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement following this announcement.

The Chinese spokesperson stated that Beijing will not recognize India’s unilateral action. These locations include areas under Chinese control or in disputed border regions.

This move could escalate long-standing border disputes between China and India. The Ladakh region holds strategic importance for both countries.

It is noteworthy that there is no formal boundary demarcation between China and India, often leading to diplomatic tensions.
