Islamabad: (RightNow) Talks are expected between Jamaat-e-Islami and government teams over the petroleum levy protest. Sources indicate a meeting between Jamaat-e-Islami and government negotiation teams is likely within the next 2 days. A meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman is also possible.

Jamaat-e-Islami has decided on a long march if government relief is not provided. Sources from Jamaat-e-Islami stated that if relief is not granted in the meeting between the Prime Minister and Hafiz Naeem, a long march will occur.

According to sources, the central leadership has decided on the long march, which could take place in late October or early November.

Further talks with the government will only occur if substantial relief is provided. Jamaat-e-Islami asserts that strong measures will be taken if relief is unavailable.

It is noteworthy that Jamaat-e-Islami is protesting for the abolition of the petroleum levy, pressuring the government to provide relief to the public.
