Pakistan’s power shortfall exceeds 4,000 MW, raising fears of severe load shedding.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Pakistan’s power shortfall has exceeded 4,000 megawatts. Several power plants are offline, and hydel (hydroelectric) production has decreased.
According to NTDC (National Transmission and Despatch Company) sources, the power shortfall has surpassed 4,000 megawatts nationwide. Cities and villages are experiencing 3 to 4 hours of load shedding.
In the LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company) region, the shortfall has exceeded 1,500 megawatts. Sources indicate that reductions in diesel, gas, and hydel power are the main causes.
Sources warn that severe load shedding may persist for several days, affecting public life.
It is noteworthy that the power supply situation in the country was already concerning, and the recent shortfall has exacerbated the issue.
