Lahore: (RightNow) Lahore High Court clarifies that ongoing civil cases will not affect criminal proceedings. The court states that both civil and criminal cases can proceed simultaneously.

The court issued a written decision on Chaudhry Irshad Ullah Chattha’s petition. It dismissed Allah Wasaya and others’ constitutional petitions as lacking merit.

According to the court, a pending civil case does not legally justify halting criminal proceedings. Both actions can continue within their legal frameworks.

Lahore High Court further stated that if alleged forgery occurred before a civil case was filed, criminal proceedings cannot be stopped.

It is noteworthy that criminal cases were filed over forgery allegations related to the land of a 66 and 70-year-old couple. The court allowed the continuation of investigation and proceedings in the criminal cases.
