Islamabad: (RightNow) PTA has initiated inspections of telecom towers to maintain mobile services during load shedding. This inspection is taking place in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, and other cities.

According to PTA, the performance of battery backups and generators at the towers is being assessed. These measures are being implemented in areas heavily affected by load shedding.

PTA stated that inspections are ongoing with local representatives to ensure uninterrupted services. This checking is being conducted in both urban and rural areas.

These actions are crucial as telecom networks face challenges due to load shedding. A briefing in June 2026 highlighted that battery backups are depleting rapidly due to power outages.

It is noteworthy that the government has also reviewed proposals to exempt telecom towers from load shedding. A committee comprising representatives from various ministries and the industry has been formed for this purpose.
