Peshawar: (RightNow) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi accuses the federal government of using police for political revenge, warning of provincial action if this continues. He insists that police should not be diverted towards political parties.

Afridi, during a law and order meeting, highlighted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s 22-year battle against terrorism. He noted that peace prevailed from 2018 to 2022, but poor state policies have led to a resurgence in terrorism.

The Chief Minister revealed that unprecedented funds have been allocated to the police. Last year, an additional 35 billion rupees were provided, and this year’s budget increased from 80 billion to 190 billion rupees.

Afridi emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s sacrifices have ensured peace in other parts of the country. He stated that the police martyr package has been enhanced and funds for modern equipment have been allocated.

It is noteworthy that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government has maintained police independence from political interference, aligning with Imran Khan’s vision. Afridi reiterated his focus on combating terrorism, not targeting political parties.
