Abbasi Shaheed Hospital’s MRI facility has been closed for 10 years, causing patients to seek services elsewhere. Immediate attention from the Mayor of Karachi is needed.
Karachi: (RightNow) The MRI machine at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital has been out of order for 10 years. This hospital is one of the major medical centers under Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
The MRI machine broke down in 2016, and it has not been repaired since. The administration confirmed that experts examined the machine, but the issue remains unresolved.
KMC was informed about the malfunction, but no practical steps have been taken. The hospital has also written to the Mayor of Karachi, yet no progress has been made.
Due to the unavailability of MRI facilities, patients have to visit other hospitals. This diagnostic service is crucial for identifying physical ailments.
It is worth noting that citizens have urged the Mayor of Karachi and KMC administration to take immediate notice and provide a new machine to prevent patients from visiting other hospitals.
