New York: (RightNow) New York Mayor Zoharan Mamdani has decided to attend the annual 9/11 memorial event honoring the victims of the terrorist attacks. He announced his participation in the ceremony.

Mamdani’s decision has faced strong criticism from victims’ families, former officials, and Republican leaders. They argue that Mamdani should not attend the event.

The criticism stems from the appointment of Ramzi Kassem as Chief Legal Counsel. Critics accuse Kassem of providing legal assistance to an Al-Qaeda member.

It is noteworthy that some victims’ relatives have filed a petition against Mamdani’s attendance. Approximately 100,000 people have signed it.

Mamdani is the first Muslim mayor of New York to attend the 9/11 memorial. U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is also expected to attend.
