Karachi: (RightNow) Families of Pakistanis held hostage by pirates in Somalia for 4 months protested. They appealed to the Field Marshal and Prime Minister to help secure their loved ones’ release.

The protest took place at Numaish Chowrangi in Karachi, where affected families held pictures and placards of their loved ones. They also hinted at starting a hunger strike.

Families stated that the government only offers assurances, and they haven’t contacted their loved ones for a month. They urged the government to take immediate action.

This issue is critical as the hostages’ health and lives are at severe risk. Families even traveled to Islamabad to meet Foreign Ministry officials, but no resolution was achieved.

It is noteworthy that Somali pirates have previously taken Pakistanis hostage multiple times. Currently, 10 Pakistanis are in captivity, increasing pressure on the government for their release.
