Islamabad: (RightNow) The Sunday Bazaar in Islamabad has been closed due to the absence of fire safety measures. Vendors protested against the closure of the H-9 Bazaar, chanting slogans against the CDA (Capital Development Authority).

Vendors claimed they spent millions on safety measures, yet the bazaar was shut down. Around 200 to 250 vendors participated in the protest, demanding the immediate reopening of the market.

Due to the closure, citizens are deprived of purchasing items at low prices. Additionally, the weekly market in G-6 has also been closed, with police presence outside the H-9 Bazaar.

It is important to note that vegetables in the open market are being sold at double the official rates, causing financial difficulties for citizens. The closure of the Sunday Bazaar has further exacerbated these issues.

Previously, the lack of fire safety measures in the Sunday Bazaar has repeatedly posed challenges for the administration.
