Dhruv Rathee claims abduction in Delhi, accuses government of suppressing dissent.
New Delhi: (RightNow) Indian YouTuber Dhruv Rathee claims he was abducted in Delhi before a protest. He states that plainclothes individuals detained him for 23 hours.
Dhruv Rathee released a video on social media, revealing that 20 people took him from his home on October 10. His parents’ phones were confiscated, and he was not allowed to contact his lawyer.
Police sources say Dhruv Rathee was detained to maintain public order as the protest lacked permission. He was released after questioning.
Dhruv Rathee argues his detention threatens democratic freedoms, accusing the government of silencing dissenting voices.
It is noteworthy that Dhruv Rathee was detained from his residence in Gurugram on October 10. Police report several political leaders were also detained in connection with the protest.
