Lahore: (RightNow) Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan presented three demands to the government committee, including the removal of the levy tax on petroleum products. These talks took place during a nationwide strike in Mansoorah, where both parties engaged in discussions.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Deputy Amir Liaqat Baloch presented the demands to the committee. Besides the removal of the petroleum levy, Jamaat-e-Islami demanded the termination of IPP agreements and a reduction in electricity prices.

The government committee deemed Jamaat-e-Islami’s demands legitimate but emphasized the need to maintain petroleum product prices in the global context. They stated that providing relief to the public is a government priority.

It is important to note that Jamaat-e-Islami’s nationwide shutter-down strike against the petroleum levy and high electricity prices is ongoing. As a result of this protest, business centers are closed, and several activists are in custody.

Remember that after negotiations, the government delegation and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders agreed in a joint press conference to provide relief to the public. This was stated by Ahsan Iqbal in front of the media.
