California: (RightNow) SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket is at risk of colliding with the Moon. This rocket was launched in January 2025 for private lunar missions.

Falcon 9 carried the Blue Ghost lander by American company Firefly Aerospace and the Resilience lander by Japanese company iSpace towards the Moon. Blue Ghost successfully landed, while Resilience failed.

Experts state that the rocket’s first stage returned to Earth, but the second stage remained in space. This stage was used to propel missions towards the Moon.

NASA Director Juliana Shemin says high-energy missions require different approaches, influenced by solar activities and gravitational forces.

It is important to note that this collision poses no threat to Earth, but it could provide insights into the Moon’s surface impact and space debris movement.
