The global community continues to condemn India’s actions in Kashmir, where human rights violations occurred after the revocation of its special status on August 5, 2019.
Muzaffarabad: (RightNow) Today marks Kashmir Exploitation Day, symbolizing the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. On August 5, 2019, India revoked the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir.
A documentary released on this occasion highlights the plight of Kashmiris suffering from Indian brutality. According to the International Human Rights Commission, 4,190 out of 7,151 people remain missing.
Due to prolonged curfews and communication blackouts in Jammu and Kashmir, 44,500 Kashmiris have become unemployed. A British newspaper reports the discovery of over 2,000 mass graves in the region.
This issue remains on the United Nations agenda, where the rights of 15 million people are being violated. Pakistan observes Kashmir Exploitation Day annually on August 5 to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
It is noteworthy that India unilaterally revoked Articles 370 and 35A, ending Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, which is considered a violation of international laws.
