Berlin: (RightNow) Germany announces the withdrawal of two warships from the Red Sea. This decision follows recent diplomatic progress between the United States and Iran.

According to the German Ministry of Defense, the ships being withdrawn are the ‘Fulda’ mine hunter and the ‘Mosel’ support ship. These ships arrived in the Red Sea via the Suez Canal in June.

Approximately 140 personnel were deployed with the ships, including mine-clearing divers and security teams. Germany had prepared these ships due to potential Iranian mine threats.

Germany’s Defense Minister stated that the military mission in the Strait of Hormuz will depend on the political situation. This mission aimed to protect free navigation on global maritime routes.

It is noteworthy that Germany has also announced its continued naval participation in the UNIFIL peace mission off the coast of Lebanon. The security situation in the Middle East is considered uncertain.
