Sri Lanka waives visa fees for Pakistanis, expecting a rise in tourists.
Colombo: (RightNow) Sri Lanka has waived visa fees for Pakistani citizens. Sri Lankan Consul General Sanjiva Pattiyawala stated that online visa applications are processed within 48 hours.
Following the waiver of visa fees, the number of Pakistani tourists to Sri Lanka has increased. In 2026, 30,000 Pakistani tourists are expected, compared to 20,000 last year.
Pakistani couples are also hosting wedding ceremonies in Sri Lanka. The Pakistani government has awarded scholarships to 100 Sri Lankan students at Allama Iqbal University.
Trade barriers exist between the two countries. Despite a free trade agreement in 2005, trade barriers have not been eliminated.
It is noteworthy that defense relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are significant and beneficial for both nations.
