New Delhi: (RightNow) A tunnel collapse at an under-construction hydropower project in Sikkim, India, has resulted in 20 fatalities. The incident occurred on July 20 on the Teesta River during the construction of a government project tunnel.

Initial reports indicated that at least 9 workers were killed, and 15 were trapped inside the tunnel. The death toll has now risen to 20.

Indian authorities have reported that rescue workers have found an additional 7 to 8 bodies at the site. Officials state that rescue operations are ongoing, and more information will be provided soon.
