London: (RightNow) Indian film star Aamir Khan clarified the inspiration behind the character Rancho in the film ‘3 Idiots’. He stated that the character was not influenced by the life of educationist Sonam Wangchuk.

Aamir Khan made this statement during the screening of the film ‘Lagaan’ at the London Indian Film Festival. He emphasized that the connection between Rancho and Sonam Wangchuk is a misconception.

He further explained that filmmakers Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi were unaware of Sonam Wangchuk during the film’s production. While Sonam Wangchuk’s work is commendable, there is no need for misinformation.

Aamir Khan expressed concern over Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, stating that everyone is worried about his health and hopes he ends the protest soon.

It is noteworthy that Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike in Delhi since June 28, advocating for educational reforms. Actor Omi Vaidya had claimed that the film’s character was inspired by Sonam Wangchuk.
