Iranian Missile Attack in Strait of Hormuz, Indian Sailor Killed, 8 Injured

An Iranian missile attack on UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz killed an Indian sailor. India summoned Iran’s deputy ambassador.

Abu Dhabi: (RightNow) The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense reported that two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz were targeted by Iranian cruise missiles. The attack resulted in the death of an Indian crew member and injuries to 8 others.

During the attack, both ships were within Omani territorial waters. According to the Ministry of Defense, the deceased sailor was aboard the oil tanker Mombasa B, while the injured included 6 Indian and 2 Ukrainian nationals.

ADNOC L&S, the shipping company of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, confirmed that Mombasa B and Al Bahiyah sustained damages. Fires on the tankers were extinguished.

This attack is significant as India has summoned Iran’s deputy ambassador. India’s Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over the incident.

It is noteworthy that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed the tankers ignored warnings and attempted to pass through a mined route.
