Srinagar: (Right Now News) Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is being observed worldwide today. On July 13, 1931, 22 Kashmiris were martyred while giving the call to prayer during a protest against Dogra rule. This event remains a symbol of the Kashmiri freedom struggle.

On this occasion, Kashmiris around the world remember this day. The incident occurred outside Central Jail Srinagar in 1931, when Kashmiri Muslims were protesting against Maharaja Hari Singh’s oppression. As the time for the noon prayer call approached, a young man attempted to give the call to prayer.

The Dogra forces shot the young man giving the call to prayer, after which another young man stepped forward to complete it. In this way, 22 Kashmiris sacrificed their lives to complete the call to prayer. Kashmiris continue to protest in memory of this day.

The oppression of Dogra rule continues under Modi’s regime. Before Martyrs’ Day, several Hurriyat leaders were arrested, and families were not allowed to visit the martyrs’ cemetery. This is part of the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement, which persists 95 years later.

It is noteworthy that the Kashmiris martyred in the 1931 incident remain part of the Kashmir freedom movement. Their sacrifices have strengthened the Kashmiri struggle against the ongoing oppression in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
