Islamabad: (Right Now News) Pakistan has quietly initiated efforts to mediate peace between Libya’s rival governments. This move could enhance Pakistan’s global diplomatic reputation.

Since the fall of Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, Libya has been embroiled in civil war. The country is divided into eastern and western regions, each governed by different administrations.

The western part of Libya is controlled by a UN-recognized government, while the eastern region is under Commander Khalifa Haftar. Both governments receive various international support.

Pakistan’s peace efforts are backed by the United States and Saudi Arabia. Previously, Pakistan played a role in mediating between the US and Iran.

It is noteworthy that both Libyan factions requested Pakistan’s intervention. Pakistan maintains good relations with both governments, and its involvement is praised by Qatar and Turkey.
