New Delhi: (Right Now News) The Indian government has banned the film ‘Satluj’, but citizens have started downloading and screening it on large screens. The film is based on human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, which the Indian government halted citing security concerns.

The film was released on July 3, but was removed from platforms on July 5. This action sparked controversy, leading citizens to download and screen it in their mini cinemas.

Despite the government’s ban, citizens continue to show the film at various locations. People have set up mini cinemas where the film is being watched by large crowds.

Diljit Dosanjh, who plays the lead role, stated that the film cannot be suppressed. He mentioned that people have downloaded the film, and although their voices were silenced before, it is no longer possible.

It is noteworthy that in the 1980s and 1990s, Jaswant Singh Khalra raised his voice against extrajudicial killings in Indian Punjab. He was abducted and allegedly killed by the police, with his body reportedly disposed of in a canal.
