Barcelona: (RightNow) Netflix has acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco and Portugal. This marks the first time Netflix has secured rights for the FIFA World Cup.

Netflix already holds broadcasting rights for the Women’s World Cup in 2027 and 2031. This time, Netflix will broadcast 104 matches of the Men’s World Cup for viewers in Spain and Andorra.

Under the agreement, one match per match day will be broadcast for free in Spain. Additionally, matches involving the Spanish national team, both semi-finals, and the final will be aired on a free-to-air channel.

This move will provide Netflix with a new dimension in the streaming market and increase interest among football fans. In the UK, World Cup rights remain with traditional TV networks.

It is noteworthy that FIFA’s Secretary General has stated that the expanded World Cup in 2026 and 2030 will be memorable for fans worldwide.
