Guangzhou: (RightNow) An Iranian Mahan Air flight has landed in Guangzhou, China, despite US sanctions threats. According to FlightRadar24, the flight landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 4:39 PM local time.

The flight was not listed on the official Guangzhou Baiyun Airport website, so the information is based on flight tracking data. This development follows the US government’s threat to expand sanctions on Iranian airlines.

The US Treasury Secretary warned that from September 23, entities doing business with Iranian airlines could face US sanctions. China has opposed these potential sanctions, stating it opposes such unilateral actions.

Mahan Air is already under US sanctions, with Washington claiming the airline supports activities related to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Iran rejects these sanctions.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned the sanctions, stating such actions should not occur without international law or UN Security Council approval. Mahan Air’s Tehran to Guangzhou flights have continued in recent days.
